You prepare a table for me, in the presence of my enemies….
There are many things these days that society and the media insist we should be fearful of. The list is long, but some examples might include global warming, climate change, Covid and its variants, energy costs, food shortages, financial crashes, Putin, world war 3, nuclear war, and so on (before we even start on our personal issues).
We can be mightily distracted and weighed down by things like these. So what should our response be? Let me suggest two things…
Firstly, from Psalm 23 itself…. “Fear no evil, for You are with me”. Ask yourself, if God is bigger than these things.
Secondly, from James 1:2… “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”
I don’t mean to sound simplistic. We face serious situations, but God is bigger, and He knows the way through. May we have grace to embrace God’s solutions and His presence in our situations. Lord, have mercy on us.
